So, I’m in a slightly different situation than some of my preemie moms…
Bubba was not my first.
He was my 4th! (Surprise surprise surprise.)
While he was definitely in God’s plan, he was not in ours….ahhh such a delightful sense of humor our lord has to give me one more bundle of love and joy at FORTY years old……
I often wonder if the “mom’s I know” (via the internet counts now)are scared to have another precious babe. Can they have another babe? Do the doctors say that you would have a very high percentage of risk of giving birth prematurely “again”.
I KNOW what it was like to have a full term baby and get to bring the chubby bundle home after TWO days in the hospital. I had THREE big chunka chunkas (all of whom had to be induced, just to add humor to the QUESTION. And oh yeah, the smallest of the big three was Pootie, (the oldest) he weighed 8 lbs 7.5 oz. Crash was induced a couple of weeks early and he was 8 lbs 10 oz. Lola, she came on her due date, and she was one poop under 9 lbs. Did I mention I am NOT a tall person, nor did I get gestational diabetes, and I never gained more than 35 pounds. I was a walking PUMPKIN at 4 feet 11.5 inches tall I was as wide as I was tall. Seriously.)
Nicole, a preemie mom I met soon after Bubba was born, her 1st, Carolyn (28wks) will be it for them. They are a little sad about that. But the doctors have told them that there is a crazy high chance that she’d go early again if not EARLIER.
So, preemie mommies…..what is your story….MORE? First? Third? Last? Doctors say YES? Doctors say NO?
It’s just something I think about.

Jack was our first. I had severe Pre-Eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome, which is something that "could" happen again. It's such a hard decision. I want more kids, but I would feel horrible if I had another one at 23 weeks. Right now, my husband is totally against having more kids. He almost lost me and our son, so I can't really blame him. We have heard all different sorts of scenarios from Dr's, so that makes it difficult, too - everything from it will for sure happen, to if I'm monitored, it should be ok. Makes it really hard to decide!
I just can't imagine where your mind and heart go on this issue and i honestly think about "ya'll" all the time...I really am curious, nosey, whatever you call it to know how many moms had PREEMIE babies and then went onto have more and if they had the same issues....i'm sure there is a blog out there...
